Fitness IMHO (In My Humble Opinion)

Fitness is not solely about weight loss. It’s not about sculpting down to single digit body fat percentages. It’s not about being overly obsessive about every little thing you consume. Would I love a six-pack and defined muscles? I sure would but that is not what fitness means to me.

Fitness is however about love; self-love that is. I don’t mean this in the pervy or vain sense but rather love of the unconditional variety. It means loving ourselves enough to treat our bodies like the strong kings and queens they are and were meant to be. It’s about accepting ourselves at every stage. It’s about believing in our capability to surpass stagnation and achieve greatness. It’s the wisdom not to confuse greatness with perfection. It’s a willingness to make the necessary changes to give our bodies (both mentally and physically) what they need even though it may be a tall order that we are bound to get wrong time and time again, until we get it right.

For so long I have struggled with low self-esteem, feeling worthless and feeling like a failure. I admit that I am a little emotional as I write this but don’t break out the violins just yet…this is not a sad story! I promise!  I write this to say that as I share with you guys my fitness journey I am sharing much more. I am sharing my personal love story. I am still a work in progress but for the first time since I can remember I am confident I will achieve greatness all around!

I agree with you! I also think it’s about control. If you can take over your will and your subconscious thoughts, you feel empowered, and eating healthily, running that extra mile, doing that extra rep…it’s all about control 🙂
